Everything You Need to Know

Do you have any questions about hypnotherapy? Ascend Hypnotherapy and Intuitive Services is committed to giving clients the best care and experience possible. See some of the most common questions and answers below. If you still need assistance, reach out.

Do you accept my insurance?

Depending on your current health insurance provider or employee benefit plan, it is possible for services to be covered in full or in part. Please contact your provider to verify how your plan compensates you for psychotherapy services.

I’d recommend asking these questions to your insurance provider to help determine your benefits:

  • Does my health insurance plan include mental health benefits?

  • Do I have a deductible? If so, what is it and have I met it yet?

  • Does my plan limit how many sessions per calendar year I can have? If so, what is the limit?

  • Do I need written approval from my primary care physician in order for services to be covered?

Will you make me do something with which I am not comfortable?

In hypnosis, YOU are fully in control and aware AT ALL TIMES. You will never do anything against your will or moral code of ethics. You will remember everything that happens.

What does hypnosis feel like?

Most people typically describe the feeling of being hypnotized during hypnotherapy is to be in a calm, physically, and mentally relaxed state. In this state, they are able to focus deeply on what they are thinking about. It is important to remember there is no right way to feel when undergoing hypnosis.

Why shouldn’t I just take medication?

Medication alone cannot solve all issues. What medication does is treat the symptoms. Our work together is designed to explore the root of the issue, dig deep into your behavior and teach strategies that can help you accomplish your personal and/or relational goals.
Medication can be effective and is sometimes needed in conjunction with therapy.

What to Expect from a hypnotherapy session

At Ascend Hypnotherapy & Intuitive Services, a typical hypnotherapy session lasts 60 minutes, however the initial session is 90 minutes in length.
In the initial session, I will ask specific questions to better understand the scope of the issue that you are seeking to overcome. I will then take you through two brief hypnotic exercises prior to starting full hypnotherapy.
